Honi Deaton is coming in December!

Oh, gosh, we all had a chance to go up to the O.C.C. Concert Series in Waterford Michigan because we wanted to see Honi Deaton and Dream before they played here at the Opry! (Of course, we wanted to see Dave Russell and his bandmates perform as the showcase band prior... (gg) We're big Hardline Drive fans too....)

But let me tell you, Toledo! You are in for one great bluegrass show in December at the Glass City Opry!!! We just can’t wait to see these folks again!

You will love the selection of music that they play… it’s traditional, then it’s original, then it’s classic country, and then its fun bluegrass, it’s beautiful gospel then it’s a little contempory! These fine musicians will give you a bluegrass buffet!!! And you’ll be pleased as punch to spend the evening with them all!

Here’s a quick YouTube video that I shot with my camera! (It’s a little shakey because I had to hold it the WHOLE time in the air!) But it’s good music… Go and take a listen!!

Glass City Opry Podcast debuts October 2007 in Toledo, Ohio

Wow, what a SHOW!

Oh my, if you missed the October show here at the Glass City Opry… you missed a good one! I think even, it might have been the best show all around that we’ve done! The bands were awesome, and the timing of the show was perfect, just what we had imagined. Everyone had a great time, and by the murmurings and good wishes and all that we’ve heard, everyone thought it was perfect!

The first two shows were great too! But there was a bit of a learning curve with getting our feet under us and learning the ropes of regular show production! Believe it or not, we’ve never done this before to this extent and it’s a tough learning curve! We SO appreciate everyone that has come out and helped to support the show. We heard that even people down in the Nashville, for the annual IBMA Bluegrass Convention have heard about little old Toledo and their brand new Glass City Opry! How Exciting is that???

Well, we are so excited and ready for the November show!

Featuring an awesome band from West Virginia…. Buck and Company!

Buck and Company, a bluegrass band appearing at the Glass City Opry in November of 2007

These boys are not just snappy dressers, but some of the best regional grass I’ve ever heard! Please go and take a moment to listen to a few cuts and visit their website!

I just adore their “Smoky Mountain Memories”!!!! I sure hope they play it here in November! Can’t wait to see these gentlemen bring their music to our Opry here!

And opening for Buck and Company is our own Ottawa County Bluegrass boys! These gentlemen are a treat and we hope you’ll enjoy their music too! They just had a new CD out and I have to tell you, it’s a goodun!

Welcome to the New Glass City Opry Blog

Dave Russell and Toni Erskine of Hardline Drive perform at the Debut of the Glass City Opry Bluegrass Concert Series

Welcome to the new blog for the Glass City Opry. The Glass City Opry or GCO as we like to call it, is a new bluegrass music venue opening in the Toledo, Ohio region. We operate a family oriented bluegrass show on the second Monday evening of each month at the beautifully restored Maumee Indoor Theatre. Top regional and national acts will be featured. You can learn all about the show at: www.GlassCityOpry.com

We hope this blog will be a great way to add quick comments about the shows, address any new issues or announcements and get feedback from our audience! We are so dedicated to bringing the very best of bluegrass music to an area that has been lacking in a good monthly venue for years! Toledo used to have a lot of great bluegrass going on, yet several of our founding fathers of the music in the region have passed on. We have decided to put our necks on the line and pick up the torch and hopefully, with the support of all those in the region that love this music and want to help support it, we will once again build up the audience and make the Toledo area a stopping point for touring and national acts! That is our goal!
